Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has declared Chelsea legend Michael Essien as the greatest Ghanaian player to ever feature in the English Premier League.

Semenyo, who is enjoying an impressive season with AFC Bournemouth, could soon find himself among the top Ghanaian stars to grace the English top flight. Over the years, several Ghanaian footballers, including Sulley Muntari, Tony Yeboah, Christian Atsu, and Essien, have left a lasting impact on the league.

During a quick-fire Q&A session with BR Football, Semenyo was asked to name the best Ghanaian to play in the Premier League, and without hesitation, he picked Michael Essien. The former Chelsea midfielder won two Premier League titles during his nine-year stint at Stamford Bridge, becoming a key figure for the Blues and winning multiple trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Semenyo continues to make a name for himself in England. He recently celebrated his 50th appearance for Bournemouth and became only the second Ghanaian player to record back-to-back double figures in goals and assists in English football.

The 25-year-old forward has been in fine form this season, scoring seven Premier League goals and adding two in the FA Cup. His contributions have helped Bournemouth reach the quarter-finals of the prestigious cup competition, further solidifying his growing reputation in the league.
