As the Ghana Premier League prepares for one of its biggest fixtures, former Hearts of Oak board member Frank Nelson has sent a strong message of confidence ahead of this weekend’s Super Clash against Asante Kotoko.
In an interview, Frank Nelson said the team is fully prepared to go to Kumasi and get a result.
“I always say Baba Yara is our ground. This is our home,” he said. “It is true that Kotoko have had the upper hand over us in recent years, but this season we are determined to rewrite history.”
He added: “We are coming to Kumasi this weekend with one objective: to make a difference. By this time next week, we will be talking about the result, and I can confidently say, from my heart and from what I have heard from the technical team, that we are well prepared.”
The match, scheduled at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, is a key fixture in the 2025/26 season. According to official league statistics, the two sides have met 119 times since 1958.
Asante Kotoko have 41 wins, Hearts of Oak also have 41 wins, and 38 matches have ended in draws.
Hearts currently sit 5th on the league table with 35 points, while Kotoko are 3rd with 36 points.
A look at the last 15 meetings between the two clubs shows Hearts have struggled in recent years.
Since 2016, they have recorded only one win, one loss, and three draws in the last five encounters shown.
The last meeting at the Accra Sports stadium ended 1-0 in favor of the porcupine warriors.

Despite that record, Nelson insists the team’s mindset and preparation give fans reason to believe.
The Super Clash remains one of the most anticipated games on Ghana football calendar, and this weekend’s edition promises to be no different.
Kotoko will be going into the encounter without their head coach Karim zito who resign after a series of poor results
