Black Princesses Edge South Africa to Reach Final Round of U-20 Women’s WCQ

Ghana’s Black Princesses booked their place in the final round of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after a hard-earned 1-0 victory over South Africa in Nelspruit.

Priscilla Mensah emerged the hero for Ghana, netting the decisive goal in the 65th minute to seal the win at the Mbombela Stadium.

Her strike ensured the Princesses progressed 3-2 on aggregate following a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Accra.

With the tie delicately poised after the opening encounter, Ghana showed resilience and tactical discipline away from home to overcome their South African counterparts. Mensah’s second-half effort proved enough to keep Ghana’s qualification hopes on track.

The victory moves Ghana a step closer to another appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The Black Princesses are chasing their eighth consecutive qualification to the global showpiece and will now turn their focus to the final hurdle in the qualifiers.

Having reached the last round, the Princesses can begin to dream of securing a place at this year’s tournament in Poland as they continue their impressive consistency on the continental stage.
