Black Queens Drawn in Group C for 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations
The Black Queens of Ghana have been placed in Group C of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they will face a challenging lineup of teams, including defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania.
The highly anticipated tournament is set to run from 5th July to 26th July 2025 in Morocco and will feature Africa’s top women’s national teams vying for continental glory.
South Africa, the reigning champions, come into the competition as one of the favorites, having showcased their dominance in recent editions. The Banyana Banyana will undoubtedly be the toughest challenge for Ghana in Group C, with their experienced squad and well-structured gameplay.
Mali, known for their physicality and resilience, will also provide a stern test. The Malian side has steadily improved over the years and will aim to make a strong impact in the competition.
Tanzania, the underdogs in the group, cannot be underestimated. The East Africans have shown progress in women’s football and could spring surprises with their energetic style of play.
For the Black Queens, this is a golden opportunity to reclaim their place among Africa’s elite. Having missed the last two editions of the tournament, Ghana is determined to make a strong comeback and mount a serious challenge for the title.
Led by head coach Nora Häuptle, the Queens have undergone a transformation in recent years, blending experienced players with rising stars.
Ghana’s journey to WAFCON 2025 was marked by a stellar qualification campaign, including a decisive win over Namibia in the final round.
