Black Queens Thrash Russia to Maintain Perfect Start at Pink Ladies Cup

Ghana’s Black Queens delivered another commanding performance at the Pink Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates, brushing aside Russia with a resounding 4-0 victory to secure their second win in the four-nation tournament.

A brace from Doris Boaduwaa set the tone for the Queens, while goals from Stella Nyamekye and Zakaria Ajegipena  completed a dominant display that underlined Ghana’s growing confidence ahead of the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Queens wasted little time asserting their authority, racing into a 3-0 lead before halftime. Boaduwaa’s clinical finishing was the undoing of the Russians in the opening exchanges, before Nyamekye added her name to the scoresheet to put the contest beyond Russia’s reach before the break.

With the game firmly under control, Zakaria Ajegipena sealed the emphatic win late in the match, firing home Ghana’s fourth to cap off an impressive team performance.

The result means the Black Queens have now scored eight goals and conceded none in their opening two matches of the tournament, a clear statement of intent as they fine-tune preparations for the WAFCON in Morocco later this month.

Ghana are using the Pink Ladies Cup as a key build-up competition, sharpening tactics and building cohesion ahead of the continental showpiece.

After finishing third in the last edition, the Queens are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to dethrone record champions, Nigeria, and lift the trophy for the first time.

If their performances in the UAE are anything to go by, the Black Queens are sending a strong message that they will be genuine contenders when the tournament kicks off in Morocco.
