Black Stars set for Wales Friendly in Cardiff

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the Black Stars will take on the Wales in an international friendly on June 2, 2026, in Cardiff.

The encounter forms part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

It will be the first-ever meeting between the two nations at senior level.

Ghana have already secured qualification for the tournament, while Wales must navigate the European playoffs to book their place at the Mundial.

The Welsh side will first face Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the winner advancing to meet either the Italy or the Northern Ireland for a spot at the expanded World Cup.

All playoff matches are scheduled to take place during the March international window.

During this same window, Ghana have two friendlies against Austria and Germany before playing Mexico later in May. As it stands, the game against Wales will be Ghana’s fourth friendly before the World Cup begins.

Should Wales qualify, the friendly against Ghana will serve as a key preparatory fixture as they aim to return to the World Cup stage following their disappointing group-stage exit at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
