The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued multiple financial penalties to Algerian club JS Kabylie after incidents during their recent CAF Champions League match. The sanctions came following the team’s Group B fixture against Tanzania’s Young Africans, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

The governing body imposed a series of fines for breaches of CAF regulations during the home match. A $5,000 fine was levied for the use of flares by Kabylie supporters. An additional $10,000 penalty was handed down for fans directing lasers, while another $10,000 fine was given for the throwing of water bottles from the stands.

CAF also sanctioned the club for the conduct of its players on the field, issuing a further $10,000 fine for player misconduct and protests against the referee’s decisions.

Despite the off-field issues, the result on the pitch provided a crucial first point for JS Kabylie in the 2025-2026 CAF Champions League group stage. The draw tightens the standings in Group B, with Young Africans moving to four points. JS Kabylie holds one point as they look to build momentum in the competition.

The Algerian giants, who are two-time winners of the Champions League, having lifted the trophy in 1981 and 1990, now face increased pressure. Group B action will resume in late January with critical matches. JS Kabylie will host Morocco’s AS FAR in a must-win encounter, while Young Africans travel to face Egyptian giant and tournament favorites Al Ahly.

All teams in the competition are expected to adhere to CAF’s disciplinary and safety codes to ensure the smooth running of the continent’s premier club tournament.
