The Confederation of African Football (“CAF”) has officially moved the dates for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (“WAFCON”) 2026.

The tournament will now take place from 25 July to 16 August 2026.

This change comes after discussions between CAF, its partners, FIFA, and other important groups involved in the event. The decision to reschedule was made to ensure the competition runs smoothly and successfully, as some unexpected issues came up that required a change in the original timeline.

It was back in October 2024 that CAF awarded the hosting rights for this edition of WAFCON to Morocco. At that time, the tournament was planned to be held from 17 March to 3 April 2026.

With the new dates now set for the middle of the year, preparations for the competition are already moving forward.

All parties involved have expressed their confidence that the event will be a great success and will continue to help grow women’s football across the African continent.
