MTN FA CUP: Defending champions draw tough opponents in Round of 16

Defending champions of the MTN FA Cup, Asante Kotoko, have been handed a tough home tie against Aduana FC following the conclusion of the Round of 16 draw.

The Porcupine Warriors, who lifted the trophy last season, will lock horns with the two-time Ghana Premier League champions in what is expected to be one of the standout fixtures of the round.

Aduana FC have built a reputation as giant killers in domestic cup competitions, setting the stage for a high-stakes encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium later next month.

The Round of 16 games are scheduled for the weekend of February 6 to 9, 2026, with clubs across the country battling for a place in the quarterfinals of Ghana’s most prestigious knockout competition.

Elsewhere in the draw, Inter Allies face a tricky test against Dreams FC, while Berekum Chelsea welcome Tamale City in an all-Premier League clash. Former champions Medeama SC will take on Samartex 1996, as they continue their quest for another FA Cup title.

Eleven Wonders are paired with Attram De Visser, while True Life FC square off against Heart of Lions in another intriguing fixture. Nations FC will battle Swedru All Blacks, with Techiman Liberty Youth set to face Real Tamale United (RTU).

With several top-flight and lower-division sides involved, the Round of 16 promises excitement, potential upsets, and intense competition as clubs chase FA Cup glory and a possible continental ticket.

All eyes will be on Kumasi as holders Asante Kotoko continue their title defence against a resolute Aduana FC side in what could be a defining moment of their campaign.
