Djiku Scores in Spartak Friendly Stalemate with Astana
Ghana defender Alexander Djiku scored his first goal for Spartak Moscow as the Russian giants were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Astana in a friendly game.
The 31-year-old centre-back announced himself early, finding the back of the net just nine minutes into the contest to hand Spartak the lead.
Djiku’s strike capped a bright opening spell from Spartak as they looked sharp in possession.
Astana, however, grew into the game and eventually restored parity 19 minutes from time, with Karlo Bartolec firing home the equaliser to deny Spartak victory.
The match formed part of Spartak Moscow’s preparations ahead of the resumption of the Russian Premier League early next month. It was their third friendly of the winter break as they continue to fine-tune for the second half of the season.
Spartak currently sit sixth on the league table with 29 points, and Djiku’s early impact will be a welcome boost as the club pushes for a strong finish to the campaign.
