The Egyptian national football team have landed in Morocco for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The team, known as the Pharaohs, is one of the most successful in the tournament’s history. They have won the title seven times, more than any other nation. Their arrival in the host country starts their final preparations.
The players and staff left Egypt to get used to the local weather and facilities. They will hold a training camp to prepare for the tough matches ahead. The team aims to win the trophy for an eighth time.

The 35th tournament will take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. 24 countries will play to become the champion of Africa.
Egypt, in Group B with Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, will be based in the coastal city of Agadir. Their group matches will be played there. Egypt is trying to win their eighth AFCON title. Their last win was in 2010.
Egypt’s first match is against Zimbabwe on December 22. They then play South Africa on December 26. Their final group match is against Angola on December 29.
The team has been strengthened by the arrival of their star players from European clubs. These include Mohamed Salah from Liverpool and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City.
Head coach Hossam Hassan has kept all 28 players from his original list for the final squad. The delegation is led by EFA board member Hamada El-Sherbeni.
