The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has officially confirmed the final squad that will represent the nation at the upcoming ITTF World Team Championships in London, marking a return of the sport to its birthplace, a century after the inaugural edition in 1926.

According to an official release from the GTTA, the selected players who will wear the national colors are

Cynthia Kwabi

Joanita Borteye

Eva Adom-Amankwaa

Augustina Baidoo

Emerald Bortey

The team will be led by Coach Eva Ampah, with technical oversight from Charles Tachie-Menson Jnr., Technical Director of the GTTA.

Ghana has been placed in Group 14, where the Black Loopers, as the team is affectionately known, will face Puerto Rico, Austria, and Angola in what promises to be a highly competitive group stage at the global showpiece.

The team will be aiming to make a strong impression, advance to the knockout rounds, and carry the hopes of the country onto the world stage.

Ghana’s qualification and presence at the tournament highlights the steady progress of table tennis in the country, particularly in the women’s game, where investment and grassroots development are beginning to yield tangible results.

The 2026 edition marks an unprecedented achievement, as table tennis returns to England, where the first ITTF World Championships took place in 1926. The centenary celebration will feature 64 men’s and 64 women’s teams competing over 13 days at two iconic London venues.

Competition will unfold across three stages:

Stage 1B: Group stages determining qualification pathways.

Stage 1A: Seeding matches for the top-ranked teams.

Stage 2: Knockout rounds showcasing the world’s finest teams in pursuit of global supremacy.

The Black Loopers enter the tournament with a blend of emerging talent and experienced campaigners, determined to write a new chapter in Ghanaian table tennis history. With the support of the GTTA and the country behind them, the team looks to London 2026 not only as a competition but as a celebration of the sport’s enduring legacy and Ghana’s growing place within it.
