The Ghana Cycling Federation has outlined its commitment to discovering and developing young talent across the country.
Federation General Secretary, Mohammed Shaban explained that the organization is working to strengthen its grassroots structures. The aim is to identify, nurture, and prepare the next generation of cyclists who will represent Ghana at the highest levels.
In addition to local development, Mr. Shaban highlighted the importance of international competition. He noted that Ghana’s participation in tours ranked by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is a clear sign of the country’s growing competitiveness on the world stage.
These efforts reflect the federation’s broader goal of raising Ghana’s profile in global cycling, both by building a strong foundation at home and by gaining valuable experience abroad.
The Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) announced a comprehensive program of activities for the 2026 sporting year, featuring events across the regions of the country and several international competitions.

The first quarter of the calendar includes the Districts Unity Cycling Games across all districts, national training courses for cyclists and officials in all regions, and the launch of the 28-week National Premier Cycling League in March.
International engagements start early with a Bahati Foundation training camp in Los Angeles for selected cyclists.
The packed schedule continues throughout the year with major events including the Kwahu Easter International Cycling Tour in April, the 3FM Tour Du Ghana in May, and the Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic in New York during June.
The federation has secured participation in several UCI-ranked tours including the Tour de La Paix in Côte d’Ivoire in September, the International Tour Du Ghana in November, and the Africa Road Championships in Ethiopia.
Ghana will also host continental events, serving as venue for the Africa Para Road Championships in October.
The year concludes with the Cycling Awards and Dinner Night in Accra, along with a partners appreciation tour, demonstrating the federation’s commitment to developing the sport from grassroots to international level while maintaining focus on paracycling and youth development throughout the 59-activity calendar.
