The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has addressed growing speculation linking English-born players Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi to the Black Stars.

In an Interview with Akoma FM, Twum stated that, to his knowledge, there are currently no active talks with the two players regarding a switch to represent Ghana.

“To my knowledge, I am not aware of Eddie Nketiah or [Callum] Odoi approaching the Black Stars,” Twum said. He confirmed that past contact was made approximately four years ago, but those discussions did not lead to an agreement.

“Four years ago, the coach did make contact with these players, but it didn’t materialize at the time,” he added.

Twum clarified that Black Stars coach Otto Addo has not informed him of any new discussions with the duo. He outlined the standard procedure for player call-ups, emphasizing that the initiative comes from the technical team.

“If the coach identifies a player he wants to call up, we will reach out,” Twum explained. “In cases of nationality switches, the FA will initiate the process and ensure it is properly handled.”

Both Nketiah (Crystal Palace) and Hudson-Odoi (Nottingham Forest) have represented England at various youth levels but remain eligible to switch their international allegiance to Ghana.

For now, the GFA’s position indicates that any move for the players would be formally communicated and led by the federation, following the coach’s request.
