Ghana Premier League: Hearts Seek First Home Win Against Dreams FC Since 2022

Hearts of Oak will be aiming for a first home win against Dreams FC since 2022 and a second consecutive league victory when they welcome the Still Believe boys to the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon, on Friday in a matchday 19 Ghana Premier League encounter.

The Phobians come into today’s fixture buoyed by a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Hohoe United last weekend. Dreams FC, on the other hand, arrive in confident mood after recording back-to-back victories, including an emphatic 3-0 triumph over Kpando Heart of Lions in their last outing.

The Still Believe lads have picked up three wins and two draws in their last five matches, a run that has helped lift them away from the relegation dogfight. However, it is worth noting that the two defeats suffered within this period have all come on the road.

For Hearts of Oak, home form has been a major source of encouragement. Phobia have won their last three home games and, in their previous five matches overall, they have recorded three wins, one draw and one defeat.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Hearts secured all three points with a narrow 1-0 victory away at Dreams FC.

That said, Dreams FC have enjoyed relative success in recent visits to Accra. They are unbeaten in their last three away games against Hearts of Oak, recording two draws and a win. That victory, a 1-0 success, came on their most recent visit to the Phobians and remains their only away win against Hearts.

Hearts last defeated Dreams FC at home in 2022, when they claimed a 3-1 win. Since then, the Phobians have managed two draws and one defeat in subsequent home encounters.

Hearts of Oak remain the least scoring team this season, having found the net just 12 times. However, they also boast the best defensive record in the league, conceding only seven goals in 18 matches.

Dreams FC, by contrast, are among the league’s most potent attacking sides. They are the third highest scorers with 23 goals, behind only Medeama SC (25) and Asante Kotoko (24). Defensively, they are joint fifth-worse, having conceded 20 goals in 18 games.

Hearts of Oak currently sit fifth on the league table with 31 points and will be eager to close the gap on the leading pack, as they remain six points adrift of leaders Medeama SC.

Dreams FC occupy ninth place with 23 points and will be looking to pull further clear of the drop zone with a positive result in Legon.
