The Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA) has officially chosen Ghana as the host nation for the 15th Africa Armwrestling Championship. The event is scheduled to take place in the capital city, Accra, from April 29 to May 3, 2026.

This important continental championship will see a change in its usual timing, moving from July to the new dates. It will also play a key role as the qualifying tournament for the armwrestling competition at the 2027 African Games.

Julien Boumsong, Secretary of the AFA, confirmed the hosting decision and called on all member Associations to start preparations for the upcoming competition.

Ghana’s readiness and commitment to delivering a top-tier event were emphasized by Charles Osei Asibey. Mr. Asibey, who serves as President of both the Ghana and Africa Armwrestling Federations, as well as Vice President of the World Armwrestling Federation, gave assurances to all involved.

The announcement marks the start of preparations for what promises to be a significant gathering of Africa’s strength athletes. Further information regarding team registration, competition rules, and accommodation will be released by the organizers in the coming weeks.
