Ghanaian Players Abroad – Weekend Wrap-Up

It was another action-packed weekend for Ghanaian stars across Europe and beyond, with goals, clean sheets, standout defensive displays and important minutes recorded across multiple leagues.

🇬🇧 England

In the English Premier League, Antoine Semenyo delivered the decisive moment as he played 90 minutes and scored the only goal in Manchester City’s 1-0 away win over Leeds United. The strike takes his league tally to an impressive 14 goals, alongside four assists this season.

In the Championship, Fatawu Issahaku featured for Leicester City and played the full 90 minutes in their 2-0 defeat to Norwich City. The winger was lively, completing six of his nine dribble attempts.

His compatriot Jordan Ayew came on as a second-half substitute, playing the final 14 minutes in the same fixture.

Elsewhere, Brandon Thomas-Asante made a late appearance, playing 13 minutes for Coventry City and helping them secure a crucial 2-1 win over Stoke City to keep their Premier League qualification hopes alive.

🇳🇱 Netherlands

Veteran forward Andre Ayew started and played 90 minutes for NAC Breda for the third consecutive match but ended on the losing side as they fell 3-0 to Telstar in the Eredivisie. Despite the defeat, Ayew contributed defensively with five clearances.

Teammate Kamal Sowah also completed the entire match, registering one clearance, one interception and winning his only tackle attempt.

🇹🇷 Turkey

In the Turkish Super Lig, Jerome Opoku put in a commanding defensive shift, playing 90 minutes in Istanbul Basaksehir’s 2-0 victory over Konyaspor. He recorded eight clearances and one interception.

In the second tier, Felix Afena-Gyan made a cameo appearance, coming off the bench for the final 10 minutes as Amedspor drew 2-2 with Keciorengucu.

🇮🇪 Ireland

Goalkeeper Joseph Anang retained his place between the sticks for St. Patrick’s Athletic and was instrumental in their emphatic 4-0 win over Dundalk. He made four saves and kept his second clean sheet in three games.

🇪🇸 Spain

In La Liga, Inaki Williams played 90 minutes and scored his second league goal of the season in Athletic Club Bilbao’s 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano. He completed two of four dribbles and boasted a 100% tackle success rate, winning both of his attempts.

Also, Kwasi Sibo played the entire game for Real Oviedo but could not help to prevent a 1-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid. He made one clearance and won two of his six tackles.

🇫🇷 France

Elisha Owusu and Gideon Mensah both played full matches for Auxerre in their 2-2 draw with Lorient in Ligue 1, with Mensah returning to the starting XI.

At OGC Nice, Kojo Oppong Peprah completed 90 minutes against Paris FC, registering six clearances and one interception.

🇩🇪 Germany

Derrick Kohn featured for Union Berlin, playing the full match in a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Borussia Monchengladbach. He made three clearances and won one of his three tackle attempts.

Young defender Jonas Adjetey played 45 minutes for Wolfsburg in their 4-0 loss to Stuttgart, making three clearances.

Ransford Yeboah Konigsdoffer clocked 67 minutes for Hamburg SV in a 2-1 home defeat to RB Leipzig.

🇨🇭 Switzerland

Lawrence Ati Zigi was in goal for St. Gallen in their 2-1 win over Winterthur, making three saves from four shots faced.

🇺🇸 United States

Joseph Paintsil played 90 minutes for LA Galaxy as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over FC Charlotte in the MLS.

🇵🇱 Poland

Osman Bukari completed 90 minutes for Widzew Lodz but ended up on the losing side in a 1-0 defeat away to Pogon Szczecin.

🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia

Christopher Bonsu Baah impressed for Al Qadsiah in their 1-1 draw against Al Taawon, completing all three of his dribble attempts and winning two tackles.

🇧🇪 Belgium

Lawrence Agyekum played the entire match for Cercle Brugge in a goalless draw against Dender.

Fuseini Mohammed featured for Royal Union SG, playing 88 minutes in a 0-0 stalemate with Westerlo.

🇩🇰 Denmark

Prince Amoako started and completed the full game for Nordsjaelland but could not prevent a 2-1 defeat to Viborg in the Danish Super Liga.

Teammate Caleb Yirenkyi also played 90 minutes, recording four clearances and winning both of his tackle attempts.

🇦🇹 Austria

Edmund Baidoo played 68 minutes for FC Salzburg in their goalless draw with Hartberg in the Austrian Bundesliga.

🇮🇹 Italy

Sulemana Ibrahim made his third consecutive start for Cagliari, playing 87 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Parma. He completed one successful dribble and made one clearance.

At Atalanta, Kamaldeen Sulemana came on for the second half but could not prevent a 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo in Serie A. He completed two of five dribbles and made one successful tackle.
