Hearts of Oak midfielder Rocky Dwamena has successfully undergone surgery to repair an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The procedure was performed at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Friday night and has been confirmed as a success by the club’s medical staff.
The surgery, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, was carried out using arthroscopy, a modern medical technique that involves the use of tiny specially developed cameras inserted into the knee area to guide surgeons to correct any diffects in the knee. This minimally invasive method allows surgeons to accurately repair damaged ligaments while reducing recovery time.
The medical team that performed the surgery was led by Dr. Ocloo a renowned orthopaedic surgeon
The surgery was completed without any complications, and Rocky is now set to begin his rehabilitation program under the supervision of the club’s medical team.
Dwamena sustained the injury during Hearts of Oak’s Matchday Seven fixture in the Ghana Premier League, a 2-2 draw against Bibiani GoldStars SC at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 26, 2025.
The 22-year-old, who joined the Phobians on a two-year deal from Dreams FC just last August, is now set for an extended spell on the sidelines. The medical team estimates his recovery and rehabilitation period will last approximately eight to nine months.
Before this setback, the midfielder had made four league appearances for his new club. Dwamena, a former Asante Kotoko player, spent the previous season with Dreams FC, where he established himself with his ball-winning ability, composure, and sharp vision.
Hearts of Oak will monitor his progress closely as he begins the challenging journey back to full fitness and competitive action.
