Boadu and Berekum Chelsea Hunts Win over Hearts of Oak
Ahead of their Premier League fixture at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Berekum Chelsea are staring at a difficult record. The team has struggled significantly on their travels in months, and history suggests they will need a major turnaround to get a result against Hearts of Oak.
A Difficult Run on the Road
Statistics from the club’s last seven away league matches paint a worrying picture. The team has suffered six defeats and managed just a single draw. The results are as follows:
A 1-0 loss to Heart of Lions
A 3-1 defeat to Aduana FC
A 2-1 loss against Medeama SC
A 3-1 loss to Dreams FC
A 1-0 defeat to Bechem United
A 0-0 draw with Asante Kotoko
A 2-0 loss to Basake Holy Stars

A Tough Personal Record for the Coach
The task becomes even harder when looking at the history between the coaches. Samuel Boadu, who now leads Berekum Chelsea, has faced Hearts of Oak four times as a head coach. In every single one of those meetings, his team has ended up on the losing side. The previous results read:
0-3 loss
3-1 loss
0-1 loss
0-2 loss
Chelsea Still Hopeful
Despite the numbers, the Berekum Chelsea camp is not travelling to Accra just to make up the numbers.
Speaking about the upcoming match, assistant coach Emmanuel Nkrumah made it clear that his team is aiming to change their fortunes.
Nkrumah noted that Hearts of Oak recently traveled to Kumasi and managed to beat Asante Kotoko on their own ground. He believes his side is capable of producing a similar kind of surprise this weekend.
“We need that one away win, and we’re targeting it this weekend,” Nkrumah said.
All eyes will be on the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday to see if Berekum Chelsea can finally break their poor run of form or if the stats will prove too strong to ignore.
