Former Ghanaian international Godfred Aduobe has offered timely advice to young footballers, urging them to stay disciplined, train harder, and remain focused on their football careers.
In an exclusive interview with BAC Sports, the retired player reflected on how the dynamics of football have evolved since his playing days.
Football used to be more technical. Back then, you had to be very technically sound to be recognized, Aduobe said. Now, the game has become more tactical, which allows a lot more people to play at the top level.
Aduobe, who played for several clubs across Europe including Greuther Fürth, SSV Reutlingen, Hansa Rostock, and Karlsruher SC, highlighted the importance of goal-scoring, especially for midfielders aiming to play for top-tier European clubs.
One of my regrets is not scoring more goals. Scoring makes you attractive to top clubs. If I had scored more, I could have played for a Champions League team, he admitted.
Aduobe began his youth career with Powerlines Accra before a brief stint at Torino Calcio. He had a long and steady club career in Europe, making over 160 appearances for Karlsruher SC between 2005 and 2011. Despite a solid club career, his international experience was limited to just two caps for the Ghana national team in 2003.
