Iraola Unsure Over Semenyo’s Future Amid Growing Transfer Interest
AFC Bournemouth head coach, Andoni Iraola has admitted uncertainty over the future of Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo but insists the club is eager to keep hold of one of its standout performers.
“Antoine Semenyo is very committed to the team and I hope we can keep him,” Iraola said, while acknowledging that the January transfer window could bring movement. “I don’t know what will happen.”
Semenyo, 25, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most influential attackers this season, attracting widespread attention from some of England’s biggest clubs. Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have all been credited with interest, with Chelsea the latest side linked to the in-form forward.

The Ghana international’s rise has been underpinned by impressive numbers. He has already scored eight league goals and provided three assists, playing a key role in the Cherries’ attacking play with his pace, power and directness. It has been reported that Semenyo has a £65m release clause in his contract that can triggered in January only as the fee will reduce in the summer.
Beyond the statistics, Iraola has repeatedly highlighted Semenyo’s work ethic and commitment, qualities that have endeared him to both the coaching staff and supporters.
While Bournemouth are keen to retain their talisman, Iraola conceded that decisions may ultimately be influenced by external factors once the winter window opens on January 1.
“For us, he’s very important,” Iraola added. “He gives everything for the team, and that’s what you want from your players.”
With elite clubs circling and Semenyo’s stock continuing to rise, Bournemouth face a delicate balancing act—holding on to a key asset while bracing for the realities of a potentially decisive January transfer window.
