Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has admitted that Ghana’s national football team is going through a radical transition, marking a sharp contrast from previous eras.

Speaking ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ayew emphasized the significant changes within the squad since 2020.

Black Stars have been in a period of transition since 2020. Otto Addo came in and had different ideas. It takes time because there’s been a lot of changes in the national team. Ayew stated.

Reflecting on the past, the forward compared the current transformation to previous transitions, particularly in 2010, when the team evolved smoothly.

We don’t have a team like the one from 2006 to 2019. In 2010, the transition was smooth. This time, the transition has been radical. He added.

Ghana’s national team has undergone several structural changes, with different coaches and new players integrating into the squad. Otto Addo, who took over as head coach, has introduced a fresh approach, leading to mixed performances on the field.
