In a new twist to the coaching shake-up at Asante Kotoko, Coach Ebenezer Sefa has revealed that Karim Zito informed Prosper Narteh Ogum of his imminent takeover even before the official announcement from the club.

Speaking on SportyDrive on Sporty FM, Coach Sefa disclosed that Karim Zito reached out to Prosper Ogum following Kotoko’s 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Accra Lions.

The call reportedly came just days ahead of Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League fixture against Nations FC, a match they went on to lose 2-0, deepening the club’s woes.

Karim Zito called Prosper Ogum after the Accra Lions game and told him he had been contacted to take over the team, Sefa revealed.

The revelation supports widespread speculation that the club had already made up its mind about parting ways with Ogum before the latest defeat, which extended their winless run and dented their title hopes.

Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum officially parted company with Asante Kotoko on April 21, following what the club described as a mutual agreement. His departure came after a disappointing run of results that saw Kotoko fall behind in the title race, despite a strong start to the season.

Shortly after, Asante Kotoko confirmed that Karim Zito and Prince Owusu would head the technical bench for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
