Former Kotoko Express editor and respected journalist Jerome Otchere has added his voice to the growing concerns surrounding Asante Kotoko, claiming the club is suffering from a lack of vision and proper planning.

Speaking on Sporty Drive on Sporty FM, Otchere expressed frustration over the apparent disconnect between the expectations of the club’s passionate supporters and the actual direction.

Kotoko has no vision and plan, he stated plainly. The supporters of the club have expectations, but it does not align with the plan of the club, and that’s a major problem.

His remarks come in the wake of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum’s departure as head coach following a string of disappointing results. The club has struggled with consistency throughout the season, and recent allegations of indiscipline within the squad have dominated headlines.

However, Otchere cautioned against what he sees as an overreach into the personal lives of players. While discipline is important, he argued, judging players based on their lifestyle choices creates a moral double standard.

Discipline matters, but going into the lifestyles of players is problematic, as if we’re holier than them, Otchere said.
