Asante Kotoko’s recent decline in performance may be linked not just to tactical or managerial issues, but to serious off-field misconduct within the playing squad, according to shocking revelations made by coach Eben Sefa.
Speaking on SportyDrive on Sporty FM, Coach Sefa claimed that several players in the Kotoko team have been engaging in acts of gross indiscipline, including excessive drinking and pursuing each other’s romantic partners.
He believes these actions created a toxic dressing room environment that made it nearly impossible for former head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum to maintain order and focus.
There’s indiscipline in the Kotoko squad; players are drinking and following each other’s girlfriends, Sefa alleged.
These claims follow Ogum’s departure from the club earlier this week, a decision made mutually between the coach and the management after a poor run of results.
Kotoko had failed to win in their last three matches, including a 3-0 thrashing by Accra Lions and a 2-0 defeat to Nations FC, leaving them 4th on the table with 47 points after 28 matches.
