Charles Osei Asibey has formally submitted his nomination to run for another term as President of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA).

In an official statement released today, Mr. Asibey confirmed his candidature, expressing his belief that the sport on the continent is at a crucial turning point.

Mr. Asibey has served as the head of the AFA for the past four years and seven months. During his time in office, he has worked closely with member countries to build up the organization’s structures.

He states that this experience has given him a clear understanding of the sport’s strengths and the challenges it still faces.

In his announcement, he highlighted several achievements made under his leadership. These include better governance systems, a rise in the number of active member federations, and more competitions across the continent.

He also noted that Africa’s presence and influence in the global armwrestling community have grown stronger.

However, Mr. Asibey acknowledges that there is still work to be done. He believes the focus must now be on deepening reforms and strengthening standards.

His vision for a new term includes ensuring that all member federations receive the support they need to grow.

He has outlined several key goals for his next term if he is re-elected. These priorities include strengthening governance, creating more platforms for competition, and focusing on youth and grassroots development.

He also wants to increase women’s participation in the sport, build new partnerships, find sponsors, and help member federations build their own capacity.

Mr. Asibey spoke of Africa’s great potential, talent, and passion for the sport. He argues that what is needed now is steady and experienced leadership to build on the foundation that has already been laid.

He made a direct appeal to the people of Ghana for their continued financial support, acknowledging that their backing has been a key part of his leadership journey.

He also called on the wider armwrestling community and stakeholders across Africa to come together and support a shared plan focused on growth, honesty, and high achievement.
