Manchester United are facing squad availability issues as they prepare for a busy period of fixtures, with the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to compound existing injury concerns.
The club is bracing for the temporary loss of several players to the continental tournament. Forward Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast), defender Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco), and winger Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon) have received call-ups for their respective national teams.
Manager Ruben Amorim acknowledged the situation, stating, “We are preparing for their absence, but we are still awaiting final confirmation from the National Teams regarding their official reporting dates.”
United’s selection difficulties are further heightened by ongoing injury problems. Defenders Harry Maguire and De light remain sidelined and unavailable for selection, continuing their rehabilitation.
Adding to the manager’s immediate selection headache, forward Benjamin Šeško has been ruled out of the next match after suffering from a case of food poisoning.
The club will now need to rely on its squad depth as it manages this absences in the weeks ahead.
