“My best football is yet to come” – Semenyo’s first words as a Cityzen
Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has completed a massive move to Manchester City after the club activated a release clause worth up to £65 million, including bonuses, in his Bournemouth contract.
The 26-year-old forward has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2031, bringing an end to an impressive spell on the south coast and marking the biggest transfer of his career.

Semenyo arrives in Manchester on the back of a stellar campaign with Bournemouth, where his pace, power and versatility made him one of the standout attackers in the league.
Speaking for the first time as a City player, the Ghanaian was confident that his best years are still ahead of him.
“My best football is yet to come, I am sure of that,” Semenyo said.
The forward paid glowing tribute to his new club, highlighting the winning culture Pep Guardiola has built since taking charge.
“They have set the highest of standards and it’s a club with world-class players, world-class facilities and one of the greatest managers ever in Pep [Guardiola],” he added.
“I am so proud to have joined Manchester City.”
Semenyo also underlined his hunger to improve and belief that the move comes at the perfect time in his career.
“I have so much scope for improvement, so to be at this club, at this stage of my career, is perfect for me. It’s a real privilege to be here.”
Manchester City see Semenyo as a player who fits Guardiola’s demanding system, capable of operating across the frontline and adding a new dimension to their attack.
For Ghana, his move to one of Europe’s elite clubs represents another major boost ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As Semenyo begins life as a Cityzen, expectations will be high—but by his own admission, the best is still to come.
