Black Stars Team Manager, Ameenu Shardow, has expressed unwavering support for head coach Otto Addo, despite Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco — the first time in over 20 years the country will miss the continental tournament.
In an interview with The BAC Sports, Shardow described Otto Addo as a passionate and dedicated coach who is committed to improving the national team.
Otto Addo is the right person to lead the Black Stars. He’s passionate and always learning. I believe in him, and with time, Ghanaians will appreciate him, he said.
The Black Stars’ inability to book a place at next year’s AFCON has triggered nationwide disappointment and criticism, with many questioning the direction of the team under Addo’s leadership. However, Shardow believes the coach deserves more time and support to implement his vision.
Otto Addo, who returned to the Black Stars setup in 2024, has faced growing pressure after a string of underwhelming performances. Despite the setback, the Ghana Football Association still believes in him.
