Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has urged football fans and the nation to remain focused on the present rather than looking ahead to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing that it is still too early to think about qualification.
Ghana solidified their position in Group I with a commanding 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday during Matchday five of the qualifiers.
Tonight, the senior national team will face Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco for their Matchday six fixture. A victory against the Barea would further boost Ghana’s chances of securing a spot at the World Cup, which will be hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. However, Otto Addo remains cautious and insists on a step-by-step approach.
“Nobody should be thinking about the World Cup yet. We need to take it step by step. It’s very, very important that we stay focused until the job is done,” he stated.
Ghana currently tops Group I with 12 points, while Madagascar follows closely with 10.
The four-time African champions are aiming for their fifth appearance at the prestigious global tournament.
