The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, together with the leadership of the Parliament of Ghana, will officially launch the third edition of the Democracy Cup at a special ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

The event, which is set to take place at 11:00am at the Justice D. F. Annan Auditorium within Parliament House in Accra, marks the beginning of what organisers describe as another landmark chapter in one of the country’s’ most symbolic sporting initiatives.

Since its inception, the Democracy Cup has steadily evolved into a unique platform that blends football, governance, and national identity. By harnessing the unifying power of sport, the initiative seeks to promote civic responsibility, peaceful coexistence, and national cohesion.

According to a statement released by the Parliamentary Service, this year’s launch ceremony is anticipated to attract of stakeholders, including government officials, Members of Parliament, representatives from the sporting fraternity, corporate partners and sponsors, as well as members of the diplomatic corps.

Beyond the domestic front, the Democracy Cup continues to expand its international footprint, supported by growing partnerships aimed at elevating Ghana’s global sporting profile.

Organisers of the competition have also indicated that further details, including participating clubs, match fixtures, and prize packages, will be unveiled in due course.
