Paul Pogba has invested in a Saudi camel racing team , making him the first professional footballer to buy into the sport.

In a move few saw coming, French footballer star Paul Pogba – the 2018 World Cup winner and midfield dynamo now playing for AS Monaco – has taken a bold step investing in a camel racing in Saudi , making him the first professional footballer to buy into the sport.

Al Haboob , based in Saudi Arabia , labels itself as the world’s professional camel racing team being formed in 2021 and receiving significant attention thanks to cinematic storytelling (including the Netflix series Camel Quest) , elite breeding programs and a vision to launch a professional “Camel Racing League” spanning Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and beyond.

Pogba being signed on as both an ambassador and shareholder gives the venture international visibility and could accelerate efforts to globalize the sport, attracting new fans and commercial partners from outside the Gulf.

This investment also comes at a pivotal moment in Pogba’s career , recently returning to professional football after an 18 – month suspension. The midfielder is balancing his on field resurgence with a growing portfolio of off – pitch ventures.

While some fans have reacted with amusement on social media given the unusual pairing of football fame and camel racing. Others see Pogba’s involvement as a creative and culturally respectful expansion into sport entrepreneurship.

“ I am incredibly excited to be joining forces with Al Haboob” Pogba said in a press release unveiling the partnership.

Paul Pogba recently returned to action for AS Monaco following a ban , marking his return from a two – year absence.
