Positive Talks and Clear Project Made NAC Breda Move an Easy Decision –  Andre Ayew

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has explained why joining NAC Breda was a straightforward choice after months without a club despite having other offers on the table.

In an interview with ESPN, the 36-year-old forward said the clarity of the club’s vision and the nature of discussions convinced him to make the move during the winter transfer window.

“It didn’t take me long to decide to come here (NAC Breda) because the discussions with the club were good. The football project, the challenge, the city, all these things made the decision easy,” Ayew told ESPN.

Ayew revealed that speaking with former Black Stars teammate Matthew Amoah, who previously played for NAC Breda and now works as an assistant coach, further reassured him about the move.

“I also spoke with Matthew Amoah and then conversation was good and I decided that NAC is the right place for me at this time”

The experienced attacker signed a six-month contract with the Dutch club after being without a team since leaving Le Havre.

Andre Ayew also explained why he chose the Netherlands despite the approaches from other countries and the opportunity to test himself influenced his decision.

I always want to play at the highest level and the Dutch League is a very good league technically and physically and I was also looking for something to challenge myself again like I did at Le Havre last 2 years.

Ayew’s arrival is expected to provide leadership, experience and attacking quality as NAC Breda strengthen their squad in the second half of the season to stay afloat in the Dutch Eredivisie.
