Following the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final held in Rabat on January 18, the Government of Senegal has extended its warm congratulations to the Kingdom of Morocco.

In an official communiqué released by the Ministry of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad, the authorities praised Morocco for its flawless organization of the high-level continental competition. The statement highlighted the remarkable quality of the infrastructure, the rigorous planning, and the constant hospitality and assistance provided to the Senegalese delegation, all participating teams, and supporters throughout the tournament.

The communiqué specifically addressed the spirit of the final match, describing it as an intense and high-quality football moment for African and international audiences. It emphasized that the event showcased two brotherly nations, united by strong ties of all kinds. While the sporting result was favorable to Senegal, the statement stressed that it should not overshadow the merit, competitiveness, and value of the Moroccan national team, which represented the Kingdom with dignity and pride.

The Government of Senegal renewed its sincere thanks to the Kingdom of Morocco and expressed its hope that this Africa Cup of Nations would stand as a solid marker of an Africa decisively moving towards excellence. Meanwhile, in Dakar, a national celebration is underway to welcome the victorious Senegalese national team, crowned Champions of Africa for 2025.

The champions are scheduled to arrive at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) on Monday evening, January 19, for an exceptional welcome by His Excellency President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the Government.

The festivities will continue on Tuesday, January 20, with a grand popular parade through the streets of Dakar in the afternoon, inviting citizens to bring their flags. An official reception at the Presidential Palace will follow later in the day, honoring the team’s historic achievement.
