Jonathan ‘Worldwide’ Tetteh, known in boxing circles as ‘Talk and Do’, delivered a commanding performance on Sunday night at the Resurrection Fight Night, successfully defending his National Light Heavyweight title against Abdul Aziz Quartey, aka ‘The Punisher’.

From the opening bell, Tetteh dominated the contest, landing a relentless succession of punches, hooks, jabs, and heavy combinations that left Quartey absorbing constant punishment. By the fifth round, referee Erasmus Owoo intervened decisively, stopping the fight to protect Quartey from further harm.

The crowd, which had cheered Tetteh’s every blow throughout the evening, acknowledged the referee’s timely intervention.

Speaking after the bout, Tetteh described the fight as a valuable test, commending Quartey and the Wisdom Boxing Gym for their courage and determination to push the contest beyond four rounds. Tetteh has positioned this victory as preparation for a future showdown with Freezy Macbones. However, he noted that he would consult his management before confirming any date, while reaffirming his slogan: “Talk and do.”

In a separate bout on the same card, Seth Gyimah, better known as Freezy Macbones, needed just 57 seconds of the first round to finish his Nigerian opponent, Jamiiu. Following the emphatic victory, Macbones declared himself ready to face Tetteh in Kumasi come August.

Box Office Promotions and RBS Promotions are now in discussions to co-host a high-profile rematch between Freezy Macbones and two-title holder Jonathan ‘Worldwide’ Tetteh.

The Resurrection Fight Night also featured impressive performances from several other fighters. Abigail Quartey, Joseph Commey, Alfred Lamptey, and Benjamin Lamptey all from Black Panthers Gym secured victories. Emmanuel Quartey of Bronx Gym defeated the experienced Justice Abbey, while Godwin Tetteh claimed a surprise win.

Nana Adjei Clinton of Wisdom Gym won the PSI Tanzania title after his opponent, Agoe Ashong, suffered a shoulder dislocation.

Alex Ntiamoah Boakye, CEO of Box Office Promotions, hailed the event as a success and expressed optimism about hosting future boxing events at the Laboma Beach Resort.

Looking ahead, Bishop Boxing Promotions is scheduled to organise Best of Bukom 3 at the same venue on May 8.
