“That’s the quality we’re looking for” – Thomas Frank praises Semenyo ahead of City clash

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Thomas Frank has heaped praise on Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo ahead of Spurs’ Premier League showdown at home to Manchester City, admitting that the club’s failed pursuit of the attacker was a testament to his quality.

Frank revealed that Tottenham made a strong push to sign Semenyo before the Ghanaian eventually opted for a move to the Etihad, describing the transfer saga as clear evidence of the player’s growing reputation.

“There’s no doubt about it. It was clear Tottenham wanted to sign Antoine Semenyo – they did everything,” Frank said. I think that’s a clear signal the Lewis family is very committed. A big signing, with finances and all that. That’s the quality of player we’re looking for.”

The Ghana international has made an instant impact since arriving at City, registering four goal involvements— three goals and one assist in just four appearances for the Cityzens.

Semenyo is expected to play a key role as City travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, with Pep Guardiola’s side needing all three points to keep pace with league leaders Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

The last meeting between the two sides saw Spurs claim a 2–0 victory at the Etihad Stadium, underlining the challenge City face in north London.

For Tottenham, a win would be equally significant as they look to revive a faltering league campaign, having failed to record a victory in their last five Premier League matches.
