The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) has officially announced the commencement of processes leading to its Elective Congress, scheduled for the end of 2025.

In a formal communique released to the United Coaches Association in Accra, the Federation has signaled the beginning of a democratic transition to usher in new leadership

The current executive body, which has been steering the affairs of Amateur boxing, will see its constitutional tenure conclude on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

To ensure a seamless transition, the Federation’s governing council has scheduled Saturday, December 27, 2025, as the date for the elective exercise. This will pave the way for newly elected officers to guide the federation’s destiny for the subsequent four-year term, ending in 2029.

The letter, signed by Emelia Ansah, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Ghana Boxing Federation, extends the Federation’s formal greetings and outlines the initial steps of the electoral roadmap. While comprehensive details regarding the election modalities are reserved for subsequent communications, this initial notice serves as a critical call to action for all stakeholders within the Ghanaian boxing ecosystem.

A key forthcoming requirement, as indicated in the letter, will be a formal request for all registered boxing clubs and gyms across the country to submit the official names of their delegates. These delegates will form the electoral college responsible for voting at the congress, ensuring broad representation from the grassroots of the sport.

The Ghana Boxing Federation has expressed its anticipation for the full cooperation of all clubs, coaches, and associated bodies in ensuring a transparent, orderly, and successful electoral process. This exercise is pivotal for the future direction of Amateur boxing in Ghana, as the incoming leadership will be tasked with building upon existing foundations and navigating the sport towards new horizons on both the African and international stages.
