Hearts of Oak head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has made a strong public appeal for the inclusion of his players, Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbetsi, in the senior national team, the Black Stars, for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

The experienced coach stated that the duo’s performances and previous experience with the national team setup make them essential picks.

“Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbasi must be in the Black Stars squad for the World Cup,” Dramani said emphatically. “Both of them have been at the Black Galaxies, and with how they are performing, both of them must be in the squad.”

He drew on the club’s history to support his point, noting, “Hearts of Oak have been in a similar position before. Both of them are performing, and they must be there.”

The coach also took a moment to clarify the absence of Solomon Agbasi from the team’s recent match day squad against Hohoe United. He explained that the decision was a tactical one aimed at player welfare.

“Solomon Agbasi wasn’t on the bench against Hohoe United because I gave him a mental and physical break,” Dramani clarified. “The mental break meant not being on the bench at all, so he could properly rest.”

In that match, which Hearts of Oak won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Mawuli Wayo, it was Benjamin Asare who manned the goalpost. His presence was a positive sign for the club, as the goalkeeper has recently returned from an injury layoff.

Asare, who is considered Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper, sustained an injury in training after returning from the 2025 Kirin Cup tournament in Japan. The Hearts of Oak captain was sidelined for eight consecutive league matches. His last appearance before the injury was in the high-profile Super Clash against rivals Asante Kotoko on November 9, 2025.

Coach Dramani’s public endorsement highlights the growing club-level confidence in the abilities of Asare and Agbasi. His comments will likely add to the ongoing discussion about player selection as the Black Stars technical team f plans for the 2026 World Cup.
