Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is reportedly set to include FC Viktoria Plzeň forward Prince Kwabena Adu in his squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany  this month.

According to sources, Adu has earned a recall to the Black Stars on the back of a productive season in the Czech Republic League.

The official squad list is expected to be released in the coming days, with the team set to face Austria on March 27 before a high-profile clash with Germany three days later.

Adu, who previously represented Ghana at the Kirin Cup in Asia, making his debut against Japan and impressing against South Korea is viewed by Addo as a key part of the long-term project as the team builds towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 22-year-old’s call-up is firmly rooted in his consistent performances for Viktoria Plzeň this season.

Adu has made 30 appearances across all tournaments this season, finding the back of the net seven times. His underlying numbers are particularly impressive, with his actual goals (7) slightly outperforming his Expected Goals (xG) total of 5.43, highlighting his clinical nature in front of goal.

In the Czech First League, Adu has featured in 21 matches, starting 13 of them and logging 1,211 minutes. His attacking output is solid, 6 goals from an expected goals (xG) of 4.83, showing he finishes chances at a better rate than average. He averages 2.0 shots per game, with 1.3 on target, demonstrating efficiency in front of goal. However, his 8 big chances missed suggest there is room for an improvement

Adu also made his mark on the European stage, scoring once in the UEFA Europa League and contributing across 9 appearances. While his assist numbers are modest (just 1 across all competitions)

With 7 goals in all competitions so far, matching his total from last season in fewer minutes, Adu is proving to be a growing threat for Viktoria Plzeň.

A closer look at his Czech First League statistics reveals why the Black Stars’ technical team has taken notice.

In the 2025/26 domestic season, Adu has started 13 of his 21 appearances, averaging 58 minutes per game. He boasts a scoring frequency of a goal every 202 minutes.

His shot volume is a major threat to opposition defenders; he averages 2.0 shots per game, with an impressive 1.3 of those on target. While his Expected Goals tally of 4.83 confirms he is getting into dangerous areas, the data also shows room for growth, as he has missed eight big chances. Nevertheless, his tally of six league goals has been crucial for Viktoria Plzeň this season.

Adu’s inclusion, alongside other expected recalls, signals Otto Addo’s intent to blend experience with emerging talent as Ghana prepares for the World Cup on the North American stage.
