Wayo Strikes as Hearts Edge Vision FC to Claim Fifth League Win
Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a narrow but hard-fought 1-0 victory over Vision FC in their Ghana Premier League clash at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon. The result gives the Phobians their fifth league win of the campaign and a much-needed boost as they continue their push up the table.
Mawuli Wayo was the hero of the afternoon, scoring the game’s lone goal—his third of the season—with a poacher’s instinct in the first half. The winger reacted quickest to a loose ball after a Hearts corner caused chaos in the Vision FC box. Osei Asibey rose highest at the back post to meet the delivery, and his header dropped perfectly onto Wayo, who guided his own header past the goalkeeper from close range.
The goal proved decisive in a match that saw both sides battle fiercely for control, but Hearts’ early breakthrough and disciplined defensive display ensured they protected their lead to the final whistle.
The victory also extends Hearts of Oak’s unbeaten record against Vision FC. In their three meetings since the Eewo kɛkɛ lads joined the top flight last season, the Phobians have now recorded two wins and a draw, reinforcing their dominance in the budding fixture.
With the win, Hearts continue to steady their campaign and build momentum as they climb to fourth place with 21 points. Vision FC, meanwhile, will look to regroup quickly after the narrow defeat in what has been a competitive but challenging second season in the top division.
Up next, the Phobians will hit the road up north to Tamale to play Karela United on matchday 13. For Vision, their next game is a date at home with Young Apostles at the Nii Adjei Okraku II Complex in Tema New Town.
