“We’re prepared for Holy Stars” — Paaku declares ahead of GPL clash

Midfielder George Paaku says Accra Hearts of Oak are well prepared for their crucial Ghana Premier League encounter against Basake Holy Stars which comes off on Sunday.

Speaking to the club’s media team as part of the pre-match briefing, the former Accra Lions playmaker expressed confidence in the team’s preparation ahead of the fixture.

According to Paaku, the Phobians have trained intensely after recovering from their previous match and are ready to approach the game with the right mentality.

“After the recovery from the previous game, the preparation has been good from the guys. We’re training well and the intensity of training is high, so I think we’re well prepared for the weekend,” he said.

Paaku missed Hearts’ last league match against Bibiani Gold Stars FC, where the Phobians suffered a 2–1 defeat, and admitted he was disappointed with the outcome.

The midfielder has been sidelined with injury in recent weeks and revealed he is still working his way back to full fitness after a brief hospital admission.

“I wouldn’t say I’m fit for the game as I was months ago because I was out for a couple of weeks where I had to be admitted at the hospital for some days, but I’m getting back and trying my best to be ready and get back to my maximum form,” he added.

Accra Hearts of Oak recorded a 2–1 victory over Basake Holy Stars in the first-round meeting earlier this season and will be hoping to secure a similar result this time on home soil.

The Phobians are eager to keep their title ambitions alive as they push for their first Ghana Premier League crown since 2021.
