Ghana’s passage to the last four was anything but straightforward. In the quarter-final against tournament hosts Senegal, Justice Amoafo and Daniel Lartey were pushed to the brink before staging one of the tournament’s standout comebacks.
Senegal came out firing in front of their home crowd, cruising to a commanding 21–8 opening set and putting Ghana under early pressure. Rather than fold, Amoafo and Lartey responded emphatically, dominating the second set 21–10 to level the match before holding their nerve in a tense decider, edging it 15–13.
The result eliminated the hosts’ first pairing, with Amadou and Mouhamed dropping into the 5th–8th classification bracket, while Amoafo and Lartey advanced to a semi-final against DR Congo that they would go on to win in more comfortable fashion.
