We have no excuse against Apostles, our attitude must be better – Karim Zito warns Kotoko squad

Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has delivered a firm message to his players ahead of Wednesday’s outstanding Ghana Premier League clash with Young Apostles, insisting that the Porcupines must show sharper focus and a far better attitude than they displayed in their draw against Aduana FC on Sunday.

Kotoko were forced to come from behind to salvage a point at the Baba Yara Stadium, and while Zito acknowledged the fightback, he expressed disappointment with how his side approached the game.

“Why should we wait to concede first before we start to play?” he questioned during an interview with the club’s media team. “We eventually equalized, and although a draw is better than a loss, this is not how we should approach games if our target is the top.”

Also in his pre-match presser ahead of the outstanding fixture in Kumasi, the Kotoko head coach said that his side has got no excuse not to beat Young Apostles.

We have no excuse for the match against Apostles,” Zito stressed. “If we mean to win the league, these are the games we must win. We must try and win all our home matches and our attitude must be better, definitely.”

Zito wants his players to show more urgency, discipline, and hunger—qualities he believes were missing in key stages of Sunday’s clash with Aduana. As they prepare to face Young Apostles, one of last season’s promoted sides, the coach insists that Kotoko cannot afford complacency.

Our attitude towards the Young Apostles game should be better than the Aduana game,” he emphasized. “We must be ready from the first whistle.”
