GFA President, Kurt Edwin Simon-Okraku, has reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to good governance and institutional integrity, telling delegates at the 32nd GFA Congress that the reforms undertaken in successive years have strengthened Ghana football’s standing globally.

Addressing the Congress under the banner “This Is The Love,” the GFA President, who also serves as 2nd Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), used his address to reflect on the Association’s achievements over the past year across governance, credibility, and corporate partnerships.

Credibility on the Continental and Global Stage

Okraku told Congress that the Association’s sustained focus on reform had translated into growing recognition from football’s governing bodies, positioning Ghana as a reference point for other national associations.

Our unwavering dedication has earned the confidence and admiration of both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA. Today, Ghana football enjoys enhanced credibility on the continental and global stage, with our governance reforms and commitment to excellence increasingly recognised as a model worthy of emulation.” Kurt Okraku, President, GFA · 2nd Vice-President, CAF

The GFA President described the past twelve months as a period defined by consistency in the Association’s core values, framing transparency and accountability not merely as administrative goals but as the foundation of the federation’s long-term credibility.

Over the past twelve months, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to the principles of good governance, transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity. These values have not merely guided our administration; they have become the foundation upon which we continue to build a stronger, more credible, and more respected Ghana Football Association.” Kurt Okraku, President, GFA, 2nd Vice-President, CAF

Corporate Ghana Deepens Investment in Domestic Football

Okraku also highlighted the growing appetite among businesses to partner with the domestic game, describing rising corporate sponsorship as validation of the Association’s development strategy for local competitions.

Corporate Ghana continues to demonstrate unwavering confidence in our vision for the development of domestic football. The growing commitment of the corporate community is a strong endorsement of the progress we have made and a clear indication that our competitions continue to offer a credible and attractive platform for strategic partnerships and long-term investment.” Kurt Edwin Simon-Okraku.

FIFA Forward Support Strengthens Regional Operations

On infrastructure and operational capacity, the President pointed to continued investment channelled through FIFA’s development programme, which has supported both regional football administration and the GFA’s own operational departments.

FIFA Forward Programme Support

1. Five vehicles presented under the FIFA Forward Programme

2. Beneficiaries include the Greater Accra and Northern Regional Football Associations

3. Additional vehicles allocated to key operational departments of the GFA

The vehicle presentation forms part of a broader package of FIFA-backed support aimed at improving logistical capacity for regional football administration across the country, an area the Association has identified as central to strengthening grassroots and regional operations.

The 32nd GFA Congress brought together stakeholders from across Ghana’s football community, with the President’s address serving as a broader account of the Association’s stewardship since the previous Congress, spanning governance, finance, infrastructure, and Ghana’s continued standing within CAF and FIFA structures.
