Ghana’s domestic transfer window rarely closes quietly, and the 2026/27 edition has been no exception. Clubs across the Premier League moved decisively in the early weeks of the market, with more than ten confirmed transfers already on the books.
But beneath the routine business of squad-building, five deals stood apart for the drama, rivalry and last-gasp maneuvering that defined them.
The window has featured a spread of moves both expected and eyebrow-raising: Etse Dogli left Heart of Lions for Medeama SC, John Antwi completed a switch from Dreams FC to Hearts of Oak, and former Asante Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku joined Gold Stars as a free agent. Elsewhere, Asante Kotoko strengthened with the free signings of Emmanuel Sanja and Danlad Ibrahim, while Aduana FC and FC AshantiGold rounded out their business with the additions of Stephen Amankona and Justice Blay respectively.
Yet it is a smaller cluster of deals, five in total, that has dominated conversations. Each involved competing suitors, and in some cases, a dramatic reversal at the very last moment.
1. MOST DRAMATIC · DOMINIC NSOBILA
Dominic Nsobila to Hearts of Oak
Aduana FC believed they had done the groundwork to secure Dominic Nsobila, opening negotiations well ahead of the deadline. Hearts of Oak had other ideas. In a late intervention that has since become the defining image of the window, the Phobians swooped in and completed the signing at 11:57 PM, just minutes before the window’s effective cut-off, leaving Aduana to count the cost of a deal they thought was theirs to lose.
2. The Midfield Battle

Meshack Adjetey Sowah to FC Samartex
Hearts of Oak and FC Samartex went head-to-head for the signature of midfielder Meshack Adjetey Sowah, with both clubs viewing him as a key addition to their engine room. After a fiercely contested pursuit, it was Samartex who emerged victorious, landing a player Hearts had also earmarked as a priority target.
3. Aduana Forced It, Medeama Finished It

Aduana FC applied early and sustained pressure to bring in Emmanuel Annor, doing much of the work to advance the deal. Just as the move appeared close to completion, Medeama SC entered the picture and pushed the transfer over the line, walking away with a player Aduana had spent considerable effort pursuing

Stephen Amankona to Aduana FC
In something of a reversal of fortune, Medeama SC showed strong interest in free agent Stephen Amankona, formerly of Berekum Chelsea, but it was Aduana FC who ultimately won the race for his signature. The deal went down to the final stages of negotiation before Aduana secured their man.
5. The Deal That Never Happened

Seidu Saana stays at Aduana FC
When Seidu Saana became a free agent, Medeama SC moved quickly and came close to securing his signature. Aduana FC, however, worked to convince their player to stay, ultimately extending his time at the club and frustrating what had looked like a near-certain departure for Medeama.
