Uefa Champions League Draw Set to Reveal League Phase Fixtures
The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase draw takes place today, August 27, with 36 clubs waiting to discover the eight opponents they will face in the opening stage of Europe’s premier club competition.
The draw will feature four pots of nine teams, ranked according to their UEFA club coefficients. Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain headline Pot 1 alongside Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Each club will face two teams from every pot, with one opponent from each pot at home and the other away. Teams from the same domestic association cannot generally be drawn together, while a club can face a maximum of two sides from another association.
The draw will use a combination of manual and digital processes. UEFA will physically draw the teams, while automated software will select valid opponents and determine home and away assignments while ensuring all draw restrictions are respected.

Pot 2 contains several heavyweight clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Sporting CP, Aston Villa, Porto, Manchester United, Club Brugge, Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven.
Napoli, RB Leipzig, Villarreal, Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Feyenoord are among the notable names in Pot 3, while Stuttgart, Como, Lens, Slavia Prague and AEK Athens feature in Pot 4.
The league phase will comprise 144 matches across eight matchdays, beginning on September 8 and concluding on January 27, 2027. Fixtures will be played at 18:45 and 21:00 CET.
The top eight teams after the league phase will advance directly to the round of 16, while sides finishing ninth to 24th will enter the knockout phase play-offs. Teams finishing 25th or lower will be eliminated.
UEFA will release the complete fixture schedule by Saturday, August 29.

Both competitions will feature 36-team league phases. Europa League clubs will play eight matches, while Conference League sides will play six.
