Ankrah used the platform to press the case that new stadium construction cannot come at the expense of maintaining existing facilities, arguing that renovation funding ought to be built into the national sports budget alongside spending on new projects.

The remarks point to a broader concern within the Authority that Ghana’s sporting venues, many of which have fallen into disrepair in recent years, risk being neglected in favour of headline-grabbing new construction unless renovation is treated as a standing budget line rather than an afterthought.
Commonwealth Games Inquiry Still Open
On the state of Ghana’s preparations for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, which drew criticism after reports of equipment and kit shortages affecting several athletes, Ankrah confirmed that investigations into what he termed the “fiasco” remain ongoing, with accountability promised for all those found responsible.

The comments follow earlier public remarks from Black Bombers head coach Ofori Asare, who said he had not been involved in selecting the team’s final roster and described boxers sharing kit during the Glasgow tournament, raising questions about the preparations overseen by the NSA and affiliated federations ahead of the Games.
Staffing Gaps Across the Regions
Ankrah also acknowledged significant internal capacity constraints at the Authority, stating that the NSA lacks sufficient personnel to manage sporting facilities in the regions.
