Ghana Midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana Completes Loan Move to US Sassoulo From Atalanta Bergamo
Ghana international midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana has completed a season-long loan move to US Sassuolo Calcio from Atalanta Bergamo on transfer deadline day.
Sassuolo confirmed the deal, announcing that it had “acquired the sporting services” of the 23-year-old midfielder from Atalanta on loan, with an option to make the move permanent until June 30, 2027.
Sulemana joins the Green and Black after spending parts of the previous season on loan at Bologna and Cagliari. He made 16 appearances and scored once for Cagliari during the second half of the campaign, helping the club secure a comfortable survival.
The midfielder began his football journey in Sunyani before moving to Italy in 2019, where he was spotted by Atalanta and signed for their Under-17 team. He later joined Hellas Verona, making his Serie A debut against Salernitana in October 2022.
Sulemana subsequently played for Cagliari and Atalanta, scoring two goals in nine appearances during his second spell with the Bergamo club. One of those goals proved decisive in securing Champions League qualification.
At international level, Sulemana made his Ghana debut against Mali on June 6, 2024, during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He has since earned seven appearances for the Black Stars.
His move to Sassuolo provides another opportunity to establish himself in Serie A, with the newly promoted side securing his services as they prepare for their return to Italy’s top flight.
