Medeama SC Set Sights on CAF Champions League Group Stage
Medeama SC have set their sights on reaching the CAF Champions League group stage while targeting another Ghana Premier League title in the 2026/27 season.
The Tarkwa-based club will face Congolese giants TP Mazembe on Sunday, September 6, in the first preliminary round at the TnA Stadium, with the venue set to host a match of this magnitude for the first time.
Medeama Communications Director Benjamin Willie Graham says the club has given the technical team a clear mandate ahead of the new campaign.
“Going into this Africa campaign, we have set our sights on the group stages,” Graham said.
He added that management has backed the coach by recruiting players largely based on his requirements.
“If you take a look at the signings we have put together, most of them come from what he wants. What he wants management to do is what they have done for him,” he explained.
Beyond Africa, Medeama are targeting the defence of their Ghana Premier League crown as well as a strong challenge for the FA Cup.
“We have given him the target already in the Premier League: defend the title, and obviously, the FA Cup as well,” Graham stated.
The clash with Mazembe will revive a continental rivalry dating back to 2016, when the two sides met in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
Medeama will now hope to use home advantage to secure a positive result against the experienced Congolese side and take an important step towards their ultimate objective.
“We have a clear mandate on where we want to go and how we want to achieve those things,” Graham concluded.
