The Federal Government of Nigeria has delivered on its promise of land and housing to the players of the Super Eagles. This follows the team’s performance at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2024 hosted by Ivory Coast.

Nigeria finished as runners-up at the 2023 AFCON tournament, held in Côte d’Ivoire in 2024. The team was narrowly defeated 2-1 by the host nation in the final.

President Bola Tinubu received the players at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. During the ceremony, each squad member was honored with the national award of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).

The President also announced a gift of a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a flat to every player in recognition of their achievement.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has now confirmed that the players have received the official documents for these gifts. According to the NFF, the certificates for the land and houses were presented to the players at their training camp in Fez, Morocco, this past Monday by National Sports Commission Chairman led by Shehu Dikko

Members of that team who are part of the present squad including Victor Osimhen , Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi received the Certificates.

This presentation comes as the Super Eagles begin their campaign for the 2025 AFCON. They play their first match against Tanzania on Tuesday. The team will then face Tunisia on December 27, before their final group match against Uganda three days later.

Drawn into Group C the Super Eagles are aiming for a strong tournament in Morocco. After falling short in the final against Ivory Coast last time, the Nigerian team is focused on making a deep run to challenge for the trophy once more.
